My Visit to Vedic Bliss – Coventry
I first met Kewal Talwadia when he joined the Ayurvedic Consultant Course at Ayurveda Pura Academy in 2017. Sometimes rather than just being a course participant some people go on to build further relations, on a life time basis and Kewal is one of them. Ever since I first met him I have visited Coventry on a few occasions to give talks lectures etc. And it has been great knowing him so far.
So the last time I visited him I decided to do a blog article on him and his practice. He has an Ayurvedic Practice and also a health shop in the heart of Coventry. Kewal not only follows Ayurveda in his practice but has also embraced the whole Ayurvedic and Yogic lifestyle in his own life.
His Ayurvedic practice called Vedic Bliss in Coventry has traditional Ayurvedic treatment rooms and consultation rooms. He not only does Ayurvedic consultations but also carries out Ayurvedic Therapies. The Ayurvedic treatment rooms are fully equipped in a traditional style giving you the feeling of being transported into India.
In fact that’s how I met the lovely Pushy Sanghera who then came to Ayurveda Pura Academy to learn Ayurvedic therapies. Pushy carries out Ayurvedic therapies as Vedic Bliss. So if you are in and around Coventry Vedic Bliss is the place to visit for Ayurvedic Consultation from Kewal Talwadia or for Ayurvedic Therapies from Pushy Sanghera.
Kewal’s Health Shop also carries Ayurveda Pura’s Products including Herbs, Herbal Teas, Massage Oils or Skin Care Range. So if you are looking to buy any of our products then you know where to head.
Here is a bit more about Kewal:
How did you get introduced to Ayurveda?
I suffered with Sciatica which progressively got worse from the age of 8 years till 17 years. My mother was a nurse in Government hospital in India so many doctors from various faculties tried to help me but to no avail. Finally, at the age of 17, one of the neurologist told me that there was no cure for Sciatica and I will have to be on pain killers all my life. But even painkillers didn’t help after years of use.
One of our family friends suggested I see a Vaidya in Ahmedabad. I was seen by the Vaidya who was 90 years old. He explained what was wrong with me and everything made sense. I was put on a special diet and some herbs and treatments. All in all, within 4 weeks, my pain of 9 years was gone and I felt like I was born again. This was a turning point in my life. I embraced Ayurveda ever since then and never strayed from Vedic lifestyle and diet.
What does Ayurveda mean to you?
My entire life revolves around Ayurveda and Yoga. I used to be an I.T professional in India, but followed Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle. But, when I came to U.K in 2005, I changed my profession and made my passion my profession and ever since then, I enjoy absolute bliss every single day practicing and recommending Ayurveda to all my clients.
What’s one of your biggest achievements in Ayurvedic field of practice?
(I do not think I am entitled to claim any achievements) I consider myself as just a humble servant of the Ayurveda who has been fortunate to learn Ayurveda from some of the best Gurus in this field and guide others with whatever I have learned. But, if I were to claim anything- ever since I was introduced to Ayurveda, I have never needed medical help or taken any Pharmaceutical medication for any health problems.
Any examples of how you integrate ayurveda into your daily life?
I follow various guidelines given in Ayurvedic Scriptures on Daily, Weekly and Seasonal routines like Taking Triphala every night, Drinking Ginger & Lemon Tea every morning, Oil Pulling, Abhyanga, Diet according to seasons etc. My Favourite part is taking 1 teaspoon of AyurvedaPura Chyawanprash in the morning and a couple of cups of their “Saffron and Cardamon Delight tea” during the day, it keeps my Doshas balanced while I deal with work related everday stresses.
Can you talk a little about your practice in Coventry?
I and my wife Smruti took over a health shop in Coventry called “Drop in the Ocean”, in 2008. Because of my passion for Ayurveda, I started recommending Ayurvedic remedies and foods to any customers who needed advice for their respective health problems. At present, we have a fully equipped Ayurvedic clinic offering all Ayurvedic Treatments.
What are your future plans in terms of Ayurveda?
It has been our dream to setup an “Ayurvedic Retreat” in India where we can offer all Ayurvedic treatments and procedures to our clients in a serene and Eco-friendly environment in a traditional style campus set in Rural area near river Narmada in Gujarat state. The retreat will also provide Pancha Karma, the ultimate Ayurvedic cleansing under well qualified and experienced Ayurvedic practitioners. The retreat will offer Ayurvedic food for the guests using locally sourced fresh vegetables and fruits, and much more.
How has Ayurveda changed your life?
After I was introduced to Ayurveda, my and my family’s life has changed dramatically. I have enjoyed good health, energy, clarity and above all the positive state of mind, for last 29 years and continuing to do so. Also, I have enjoyed practicing Ayurveda for last 10 years in the U.K and the pleasure and satisfaction that I get cannot be put in words!
Any tips or suggestions for the readers regarding Ayurveda?
Ayurveda may sound complex and foreign to people who are new to this science, but learning some basic principles of Ayurveda and implementing them is sufficient to start seeing positive changes in your health. It is easy and flexible system that can work for you alongside any other treatment/medication you might be using. Simple Ayurvedic herbs like Triphala, Turmeric, Tulsi, and products like Chyawanprash, can be taken by anyone wishing to try Ayurveda for the first time and see amazing results in a short span of time. Treatments like Ayurvedic Enema, Virechana and Shirodhara can be taken by most people to enhance their health and experience the Potency of Ayurvedic system.
