My Weight Loss Journey:
Day 1
20/05/2020
Today’s Weight 58.5kg
Aim – 50kg
When I woke up today morning I just had this feeling and decided on the spot that over the next 3 weeks I want to lose weight and feel better.
No, I am not obese or fat or really over weight. But over the lock-down period I have gained a bit. More than anything else I feel sluggish, heavy and lethargic. And I want to shift that. The aim is for me to feel lighter and brighter.
Most importantly I want to feel good about myself. It’s not about what others think. But more for what I think and feel!
So here it starts! I am as average and as human as anyone else. My weight loss journey is more about what I can realistically achieve within my everyday life.
This blog is almost like my diary or plan or aspirations, everything that I aim to put into place over the next three weeks. So here goes my story of Day 1!
- Woke up at 6 am.
- Wore my yoga/exercise clothes and my shoes! This makes me feel like I have already started doing something achievable.
- This was followed by the usual morning routine of brushing teeth etc.
I usually do a hot water “oil pulling” so rather than using oil I usually do it with plain hot water after brushing my teeth, and lasts approximately for 2 minutes. I like doing this because it really wakes me up!
- Then the usual – 200ml hot water.
- Followed by a big mug of Ayurveda Pura’s Ginger & Lemon Zest Tea. I love this bit!
Then I walked up and down the stairs of my house approximately 6 times. It’s like climbing 6 floors and walking back down those 6 floors. I must admit it felt a bit strenuous towards the end (I haven’t been really moving a lot during the lock-down). But hey it is Day 1! I immediately felt hot and started sweating. I loved it!
Then more Ayurveda Pura’s Ginger & Lemon Zest Tea. I had lots of it (approximately 4 mugs) until 10am, when my Live Instagram Chat commenced. During the rest of morning I emptied my bladder many times! But I know it’s the tea removing the toxins via urine.
Usually I sit down during the live chat. But I was doing a webinar straight after. When doing webinars I am usually stood up. So I was stood up for 5 hours while teaching/talking. And I like it because even though stood up/at home I am still moving a bit. It feels like exercise and activity to me!
During the lunch hour I sub – consciously reached for a pack of crisps. But the realization of the 3 week journey helped. So instead of that I had a big (a huge one) berry smoothie with blueberries and raspberries with Ayurveda Pura’s Daily Detox Mix. That was my lunch. And it felt good and it filled me up. In fact it actually also helped me to feel more awake and refreshed during the afternoon session of webinar teaching.
Talking about herbs I usually take all my herbs in the morning. At the moment I am taking 2 capsules each the following in the morning:
- Ayurveda Pura’s Turmeric
- Ayurveda Pura’s Brahmi
- Ayurveda Pura’s Guggul
- Ayurveda Pura’s Neem
- Ayurveda Pura’s Tulsi
But today onward I will be adding 2 capsules of Ayurveda Pura’s Guggul in the afternoon and evening. This is not just for weight loss, but for muscle and bone strength.
When you are busy time flies! And time to cook dinner. As you all know I am not a pure vegetarian. I do eat chicken and sea food once in a while. So, today was Chicken Day with a twist.
- Home Made Chapatis
- Chicken Marinated in ginger infused coconut milk with other herbs and spices
- Roasted (boiled) potatoes and peas with ghee, cumin, black pepper
- Lightly fried Courgettes Cubes in turmeric, cumin seeds and mustard seeds
- Finely chopped lettuce and tomatoes garnished with lemon juice, salt and black pepper
So the result was:
Home Made Chapati wraps with filling of marinated chicken, turmeric spiced courgettes, cumin covered peas and potatoes and lettuce salad! I loved it!
And I must admit I did have a couple of glasses of Prosecco. It was a kind of celebration because one of my best friends visited me for dinner after 2 long months. So it had to be done.
I finished the day with a couple of mugs of Ayurveda Pura’s Orange & Fennel Bliss Tea with Ayurveda Pura’s Triphala 2 capsules and 1 teaspoonful of Ayurveda Pura’s Castor Oil!
I felt good about my Day 1. It wasn’t strenuous, I didn’t have to force myself to exercise because it’s not a race that I am running! I purposely took it slow on the first day, because I have 3 weeks to go and I don’t want to lose my enthusiasm within the first few days. I can take my time and change things accordingly. I feel good! In fact I already feel lighter. And hoping to get a good night’s sleep!
