Kansa Vati Massage For Feet
Did you know when we use the word Kansa Vati in Ayurveda it literally means a Bronze Bowl or cup?
Bronze or Kansa is also known as one of the healing metals in Ayurveda and hence very widely used in Ayurveda Kansa Vati foot massages. Kansa has alkalising properties. Hence it has an anti inflammatory, Pitta or heat reducing property.
Kansa Bowl massage is usually given to the feet only. As we all know in Ayurveda, one of the best ways to reduce heat or Pitta in the body is foot massages. Hence when foot is massaged with a Kansa bowl, one will see enhanced benefits and results.
Following the authentic system: But it is also essential to remember that following the traditional principle of Kansa bowl massage is important for full proper benefits.
Traditionally Kansa bowl massage is given only to the feet usually with warmed up ghee. The combination helps to relieve any cardio vascular problems, nervous system ailments, and excess Doshas in the body.
And when traditionally doing the Kansa massage, the therapist needs to hold the bowl directly with their hands. It’s only in this way that you help to transfer the nourishing five elements – space, air, fire, water, earth – from the five fingers of your hands, via the bowl into the client.
The Correct way of using Kansa Bowl: It’s essential that there is prana or energy transfer from therapist to client in all Ayurvedic therapies and massages. Likewise the same principle applies to with the Kansa bowl massage. Therefore it’s quite essential that the bowl is held with the whole hand while doing the treatment. It should be held in such a way that the metal of Kansa bowl is in direct contact with the palm of your hand or fingers. When the Kansa bowl is held with the whole hand, it also gives the therapist a good grip and control, when doing the treatment.
When doing this treatment the eyes are usually covered with rose water eye pads so that they will help to remove all the excess heat inflammation or Pitta from the body.
