Today was a late start. I woke up late around 7am. But I am happy! So far I am happy with my result and wouldn’t want things other way. But once up, I was quite busy with various things and work at home.
My routine was as follows:
- Wake up
- Get dressed
- Brush teeth
- To the kitchen to start my day
But today I am following something very different. Today, all day, my aim is keep sipping on drinks/fluids rather than gulping down. So contrary to what I had been doing until yesterday where I was drinking down the first glass of hot water, today it’s going to be a slow process.
- 300ml of hot water with Ayurveda Pura Tulsi powder of one capsule. I sipped this today in the first 30 minutes.
Then I worked out which was also different. I have discovered this lady called Jeanette Jenkins who is a professional personal trainer. Today I followed her video to work out for the morning session of 45 minutes.
The session itself can be quite challenging. But I followed whatever I could do. Link to what I followed. Click Here
NOTE: I am Indian and I am an Indian Woman! I have always been taught never to jump excessively as it may bring changes in the uterine region/reproductive region. Hence even in this video where the girls are jumping or doing star jumps etc, I replaced it with gentle jogging.
NOTE: Always follow what our body allows you to do. Don’t force it, otherwise in the future it will resist and muscles start cramping.
I loved this session. I followed a more moderate form of this practice. And I must admit I sweated a lot! But I am smiling!
I followed the workout session with Ayurveda Pura’s Ginger & Lemon Zest Tea – 2 mugs. But please do remember today was the day of sipping the fluids and no sudden swallowing or gulping.
NOTE: All day today I kept sipping on drinks continuously. I followed one sip of the fluids/drinks every 10 minutes. So my drinks today were:
- Ayurveda Pura’s Ginger & Lemon Zest Tea
- Warm Water
- Room temperature Orange Juice
- Room temperature Coconut Water
I measured the amount I drank even though just sipping. And I was surprised I had lots of fluids coming to approximately 2 and half litres.
And interestingly, come lunch time I wasn’t hungry at all.
Lunch: Green Smoothie
- Cucumber – less than half
- Coriander – handful
- Spinach – handful
- Ginger – ½ inch grated
- Ayurveda Pura’s Get Fit Mix– ½ tspn
- Soaked, peeled almonds – approximately seven
- Olive oil – 1-2 tspn
I personally love this smoothie. I know its bitter but I love the taste of it especially with the almonds
I had a lot of paperwork/admin to get through so the day once again passed by very quickly.
And it was time for the afternoon workout session. And it was Yoga again. But today Yoga session was more intense than yesterday.
- Sun Salutations – 10 sets
- This was followed by: Holding each pose for a count of 5 and the counter pose for a count of 5. Repeating each set 10 times.
- Downward dog – Upward Dog
- Downward Dog – Cobra
- Downward Dog – half Moon Pose
- Bridge Pose – Leg Raises
- Extended Cat – Cow Pose
- Arching Mountain – Chair Pose
- Arching Mountain – Standing Forward bend
- Warrior 1 – Warrior 2
- Bhastrika Breathing:
- Round 1 – 30
- Round 2 – 45
- Round 3 – 60
NOTE: I like doing Yoga in the afternoon because I am more aware of what I am doing. Furthermore, the body is warm through the daytime activity and more supple and flexible. When I do yoga in the afternoon I am able to achieve more and I feel more motivated.
This was followed by hot oil self massage with Ayurveda Pura Tridoshic Oil.
I waited for 15 minutes before going in for shower. I wanted the oil to be absorbed into the skin and tissues.
NOTE: Now that I am losing weight I don’t want to see any stretch marks or signs of flabbiness and hence this is one of the best ways to prevent it. Hot oil also helps to nourish and soothe the muscles and prevent muscle cramps. And of course it also has anti aging effects. So, all in all hot oil massages after your yoga session is the best.
My best friend had invited me to her house for dinner so that our kids could meet up. And she had cooked Shepherd’s Pie a la Indian style (without any dairy) with various herbs and spices. And although I am looking to go completely vegetarian for this whole journey, I would not make a fuss at her place so I went ahead and enjoyed it! It indeed was quite lovely.
NOTE: I will never fuss when I go to people’s houses when it comes to food. I have been taught by my parents that when you are invited to someone’s house as a guest, vedically you take the place of God and one should feel very fortunate for that privilege. Hence never fuss or complain when you go to peoples house s as a guest.
Bearing this in mind I was simply happy to be there to talk to my friend and have a good evening.
In terms of the portion I had what we call as one and half Anjali full.
NOTE: Anjali is when you put both your palms together to form a cup or bowl like shape. In Ayurveda, when we have our meals, each meal should have
- One Anjali Solid
- One Anjali Liquid
- One Anjali left free for air to mix food
And that’s exactly what I followed. Discipline in certain ways really helps to achieve your goals.
My evening routine wasn’t much different from the previous day.
And the usual, Ayurveda Pura’s Triphala 2 capsules and Ayurveda Pura’s Castor Oil 1 teaspoon and 3 mugs of Ayurveda Pura’s Orange & Fennel Bliss Tea .
Just to note I completely forgot to take my herbs today. Today was an unusually busy day. But I don’t let it bother me.
SUMMARY: I am so glad that I am down to 57.1kg. Although it was busy I tried to fit in my physical practice and Yoga practice in. I loved the fact that I was able to vary my morning workout session with something very different. It helped to keep it interesting. Along with that I also managed to fit in an oil massage. Today I also feel very grateful for everyone who is in my life including my friends and more importantly the support that I have received from everyone, including my family, friends and everyone who is reading my blog and posts.
